Do you have children? Do you have nieces or nephews, younger siblings, cousins, or any other small, little person that makes you smile?
I am beyond blessed with two healthy little girls. One mild mannered and one not-so mild mannered. The word LOVE is not even the right word to describe how I feel about these two. Frankly, there is no word in the English or any other language that encapsulates how to feel about your own child.
This morning during my daily reflection I was thinking about my second child who has a bit of an vision issue, which may or may not explain why she is “on fire”. Fire meaning drawing on walls to inking furniture to giving the very old cat chocolate (yes, that was a mess on several levels). So many unanswered questions that will only be revealed as she ages. Regardless, she sparkles and makes me laugh and cry and my heart swell with joy.
It was in my moments of thinking about my children that I realize my little girls sparkle with love and life. Both my girls sparkle in very different ways as they were designed by God to be very different girls. As were all of us.
Our Sparkle or light is our gift to the world and each of us offers something very unique and different and wonderful. And Sparkle is the best word to use since it is Christmas time.
I ask you — What is your Sparkle? And How are you sharing it?
My prayer for today:
Lord, let me uncover my sparkle, use it responsibly, respectfully and dutifully to honor you. Amen
